Our Process

Phase 1: Awaken

1.   Legacy Kickoff Meeting - Initial Consultation

You and I come together on a 90-minute Zoom or phone meeting to walk through your project, your goals & plans and talk freely so we can see if we would be a good team to work together.

2.  The Legacy Begins

Once you have decided to move forward with your project, you will receive a package from Gold Leaf Publishing which includes a binder with details for each chapter and thought-provoking questions. Also in the package, is a book entitled “The Story of My Life”. Please spend some time journaling in this book – it will come in handy during our meetings.

3.  The Deep Dive

Based upon our initiation consultation, we begin to create your chapters and outlines. During this phase we may refine the goals and objectives of your book.  The chapters and outline will be sent to you in a follow-up email.

4. Review Your Outline

Invest time and enjoy reviewing all the interview questions that you will be asked during your Legacy Interviews.

5. Your Legacy Interviews

Together with your writer in 2, 4 or 8 sessions, you will tell your story with guidance, support and faithful understanding.

Phase 2: Writing

6. The Legacy Writing Process Begins

After each recorded session, your writer will craft your words to frame the intentions of the chapter and make notes to ask you at the next session.

7. From Spoken Word to Written Word

During each session, your words will be recorded, transcribed and organized.

After the interviews have been completed, the writing begins.  Your writer will now disperse into the writing process, so you will hear very little from us for about 3 months while your memoir is written.

8. The Editing Process Begins

When your writer emerges, you, the Author, will receive the completed draft for any edits, changes or to add additional content.

9.  After your edits, the final draft is sent to a professional Editor, and a Final Manuscript is created.  Once those edits have been completed, you will receive the final manuscript for review before sending it for publishing.

10.  Final Manuscript Sign Off

You fully approve the rough draft of the manuscript.  The rough draft is edited, proofread and completed.

Phase 3: Design

11.  Gather Your Pictures

Spend some time gathering the photos that you would like to include in your book.

You will need to digitize and upload these photos.  Please be mindful of the number of photos that are included in the package you signed up for.

12.  Cover Design

We work together to design a draft of the front and back cover designs.

13.  Cover Design Finalized

The final proof of the front and rear cover designs is sent to you for final approval.

14.  Internal Layout Design

Each chapter and all your photos are sewn together to become a book.

Phase 4: Finalize

14.  Final Proof & Approval

We print one Print Quality Assurance Copy (PQAC) for your review.

15.  Print Run

The requested number of copies of your Legacy Book are printed and delivered to you.

16.  Legacy Ceremony

Hold a simple, intentional ceremony to celebrate and pass down your Legacy Book.
