What is the difference between and memoir and an autobiography?
A memoir is a story about a defining period of your life, typically centered around an emotional question. For example, how you recovered from a tragedy; travel experiences; Your empty nest years; creating a non-profit organization; coming of age; recovering from perfectionism, a toxic identity or an addiction.

Do I need writing experience?
Not at all. Most clients have never written professionally before. We guide you through the process step-by-step.

How long does the process take?
Most projects take between 4 to 6 months depending on length, interview availability, and publishing goals.

Will the memoir sound like me?
Yes. We pride ourselves on having the ability to take on your voice. Our process is designed to preserve your natural voice, personality, and storytelling style.

Can family members participate?
Absolutely. Many projects include interviews with spouses, siblings, children, co-workers or close friends.

Do I keep the rights to my story?
Yes. Your story and the copyright always belongs to you.

Is my information confidential?
Our clients sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement that binds Gold Leaf Legacies to maintain your story in confidence. We will never disclose that we ghostwrote your story.

How long should my memoir be?
Most memoirs are between 120 and 200 pages.

What happens during the initial consultation?
During the complimentary consultation we talk about the story you want to write. We ask you questions so we can dig deeper into the story and see where it might lead. We will ask if you want to add photos and if there are other people who may be contributing to the story. If you decide to move forward and write your memoir, we will send you a quote for your project.

What if I'm not a good writer?
You don't need to be a writer - we are not only highly skilled storytellers but after many years of experience, we know how to pull the story out of you. You just talk - we write.

Can the interviews for the memoir be done remotely?
Absolutely. Interviews can be conducted via Zoom or phone, making the process convenient no matter where you live. We even have clients all over the world.

Can my memoir be published on Amazon or Kindle?
Yes. Kindle publishing options are included in all packages.

Do you help publish the book?
We do offer guidance on publishing your book.
​
Do you help market the book?
We are working on establishing a marketing plan for our clients to show you how to market your book. We know the publishing industry and how it all works but we do not have the resources to market your book for you, but we can show you what to do.
